WORK RESTRICTION 2020

Sorry, I am going to rant, this rant is due to frustration with local council, the Scottish government and the stress of being a small business during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Scottish Government issued work restriction orders for mobile complementary therapists from March 2020 to October 2020. This means that as a mobile complementary therapist I would be unable to work! The Scottish Government has not given financial compensation during this period of any sort.

My solution was to invest the funds I had into renting premises. I had intended doing this after building up more of a client base and putting some savings behind me. So I rented and decorated premises in a multiple occupancy building, this is relevant please bare with me. Early November 2020 the Scottish Government issues a 3-week work restriction order which I complied with and then again this current work restriction order. It is an order as there is a possible £10,000 fine if you do not comply.

I applied to the Strategic Framework Business Fund for a grant to compensate me for the governments work restriction order . The grant "has been established to support those companies that have been required, by law, to suspend their trading". After applying I have received to funds, communication and the message on the website is "Please do not contact us to check on the status of your application - again, this simply slows the process down. Please be assured our team will be working extremely hard to deal with your application and process any payment due to you as quickly as possible. All applicants will be notified on the outcome of their application, even in the unfortunate event that it has not been successful". To add insult to injury their office is closed until 5 January 2021!

Okay rant over. All I want to do is work, stay safe and help my clients improve their physical and mental wellbeing. My resolution for going into 2021? I'm going into the new year with a Positive Mental Attitude and refuse to worry about things outwith my control.
